Frequently asked questions
For most of the year you can expect blue skies and sunshine, summer temperatures normally hover in the low 30's C.  The air is cooler than by the coast, the wet season is November.
What type of weather can we expect in Cortes de la Frontera?
These are some typical questions that some people have asked; if you have any other questions please contact us.
Is there English Television?
Do I bring my own towels?
What about food?
What opportunities are there for eating out?
Are there any extra charges?
Is the house child friendly?
What if we have a problem that needs attention?
Do I really need a car?
Is the driving as difficult as we have heard?
We are coming in a group and need more space can you help us?
How long will it take to drive from the airport?
There are no extra charges unless something is broken, in that situation we would expect you to pay for repair or replacement.
The television shows mainly Spanish TV but some English language programmes are also shown.  Satellite TV is available but only with a basic range of channels.  There is also a selection of DVD's to watch if you want but there is so much to do locally that you would have to be seriously bored to even switch the television on.
There are three small supermarkets in the town which will provide everything that you require including PG tea bags.  There is also a fishmonger, a baker and two butchers.  If you are down on the coast then you have a choice of supermarkets that will sell all the foods you use at home - and if you really must there is a Safeway/Morrison in Gibraltar.
We will provide bath towels that are changed weekly; you are expected to bring your own beach towel.  A washing machine is provided if you want to do any washing.
We do issue a warning for toddlers, there are two flights of stairs and a roof terrace.  Like all Spanish homes the floors are tiled with terracotta tiles, with care there is no reason why children couldn't be accommodated.
The town has various small Spanish restaurants and cafes both selling tapas or full meals.  Ronda has a large selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.
Our English speaking agent in the town is available to assist you with any problems or offer you advice on any aspects of the area.  Prior to your holiday you are welcome to phone us with any questions you have - we're here to help.
You can have a holiday here without a car but it would be very difficult.  The train from Malaga or San Roque will drop you at the station which is about three and a half miles from the house so you would need a taxi.  The train will take you to Ronda, Seville or Granada to the North and East and Gibraltar (San Roque) and Algerciras to the South.  There are, however, only about 4 trains a day in each direction.
No, not at all, the roads are generally well maintained and quiet.  Roads in the towns are narrow but you will be able to stop and unload the car without hassle.  Car parking is available by turning right at the end of the road.  It is not, however, possible to park outside the house.  Even in towns it is not as difficult to drive as you may think.
Through our contacts in the area we have access to a wide variety of houses.  Just ask us and we will put you in touch with the owners.  Please mention where you got their name from.
Allow two hours from Malaga and Seville, a little less from Jerez de la Frontera and about one and a half hours from Gibraltar, although if the traffic is quiet it will take you less time from all the airports listed.
