The village is built in a linear way using the main road as the centre of the town.  All traffic both human and motorised uses, what is in places, a narrow pretty street with palms, orange trees, a very popular fountain, a lovely church and a bull ring.  The beautiful Sierra del Libar mountains run behind Cortes.  They are part of the Parque Natural Sierra de Grazalema.
Cortes de la Frontera is one of the larger white villages or pueblos in this part of Spain, outside of siesta it is a bustling place.
Cortes is an up and coming town with a number of small developments being planned, being built or completed in the last few years.  These are mainly for Spanish families
The photo above shows the busiest part of Cortes de al Frontera! This was taken during siesta.  Of course the main street does have side streets and there are a number of busy shopping areas and a small indoor market.  There are also a number of good bars/cafes.  There are three supermarkets and the one at the upper end of the village sells, among other things, PG tea bags!
The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) is in the plaza de Carlos III.  It is a very impressive Town Hall.  The entrance is to the left, opposite the house of culture.  There are often concerts and events outside the Town Hall and are well worth seeing.
This photograph is taken from beside the fountain down towards the church
This one is from outside the fountain up to the bullring
Two of the many tiled plaques that can be found around the village
This is a view of Cortes de la Frontera from across the valley.  It can be seen that Cortes de la Frontera is built along a flat ridge below the craggy outcrops of the Sierra de Libar.  It is very beautiful and relaxing setting.
All the photographs above were taken on a warm (26°+C) October day.
